Good Neighbor volunteers provide practical support and life skills to those who have been forced to flee their homelands. This can be done as an individual, family or team.
English tutoring volunteers come alongside immigrant families to build friendships and help with literacy and English skills.
Technology volunteer tutors teach our new neighbors how to access the internet and the basics of using technology. Whether paying bills or finding employment, refugees and immigrants rely on technology to begin rebuilding their lives.
Provide a warm welcome to an arriving refugee family by helping to prepare their first home in Minnesota. Along with our staff, deliver beds, furniture, and other household items. This is an opportunity for individuals, families, or small groups who want to love our new neighbors in this practical way.
Short-term hosts provide housing to refugee individuals and families for 1 to 14 days when we are unable to find housing right away. Long-term hosts house an individual or family while they are in transition or unable to afford a home on their own.
Coach, encourage, and review citizenship questions with an immigrant neighbor in the 3-4 months leading up to their citizenship examination and interview.
Assist an immigrant neighbor as they search for jobs, update their resumes, prepare for interviews, and share cultural expectations on appropriate dress, promptness, and communication styles in the workplace.
Share your interpretive skills and enable newly arrived refugees to receive needed support during critical moments in cultural adjustment. We need volunteer interpreters for Swahili, Somali, French, Arabic, Haitian Creole, Ukrainian, Russian (these are language suggestions).
Media volunteers help us by taking photos, producing videos, creating graphics to assist us in spreading the good word of what we are doing.
Support our staff by organizing our warehouse of household items, made available to our refugee families. (This opportunity is temporarily paused.)
Arrive Ministries is a refugee resettlement agency providing essential services and practical assistance to refugees and immigrants to advance self-sufficiency. We mobilize volunteers, in partnership with local churches, to extend love and friendship to our new neighbors to promote thriving in a new homeland.
